Being part of the Govind Vihar sanctuary the area is rich in wildlife and is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. Multitude of flowers bloom during the monsoon months. The valley is inhabited by people who claim to be descendents of the Pandavas and their arch rivals the Kauravas, the mythological figures of the epic Mahabharata.

Day 00: Overnight train from Delhi to Dehradun.

Day 01: Drive Dehradun to Sankri (1800m) 7hrs
Arrive at Dehradun 0745 hrs on board the overnight Mussoorie Express. (depending on availability, you could have to take the morning train which will get you to Tons for dinner rather than lunch) You will board waiting vehicles and drive to the guest house in Sankri.

Day 02: Drive Sankri to Taluka and trek to Khapu Thach (2050m) 1 hr drive and trek 4hrs
After early morning breakfast, leave guest house at 8am. Drive from Sankri to Taluka. Trek from Taluka to campsite a little ahead of the beautiful village of Datmir (1950m). Arrive the campsite for the evening tea and snacks. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 03: Khapu Thach to Binai Dogri (2700m) 5-6 hrs
The trail goes up along the Har-ki-Dun river through the dense mixed Himalayan forest for the first couple of hours and then opens up into a more inhabited area going through the fields, the traditional wooden houses, the watermills and the temples. Visit Osla, the biggest village in the valley and camp an hour ahead of the village.

Day 04: Binai Dogri to Har-ki Dun (3500m) 3-4 hrs
The day starts with a steep uphill walk beyond the summer fields of the Osla village and climbs up beyond the confluence of the Har ki Dun river and the Ruinsara river toward the Har ki dun.

The valley suddenly opens up into the lush green meadows interspersed by some beautiful forests. These meadows are used by the villagers as the grazing grounds in the summers.

Day 05: Har-ki-Dun to Gangar (2000m) 5 hrs
Spend the morning, appreciating the mountains around. Have a late breakfast and start going down towards Osla. Cross the Har-ki-Dun river and camp by the river just short of village Gangar. Overnight Camp.

Day 06: Gangar to Sankri. 5hrs trek and 1 hr drive
Continue walking along the valley through beautiful mixed Himalayan forests to finish the trek at the hamlet of Taluka. Board the local vehicles to drive one hour through the narrow road to the guest house at Sankri. Overnight Guest House.

Day 07: Sankri to Dehradun
After relaxed breakfast drive all the way down to Dehradun to board the overnight train. Lunch enroute, Dinner at a restaurant in Dehradun. Overnight train journey back to Delhi

Day 08: Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi by 7:20am, Trip ends.
